Artist: Theresa Andersson

I was reading up on fellow nerd, Wil Wheaton’s blog and saw a post about Theresa Andersson, intrigued by the first frame of the video on Mr. Wheaton’s blog i had to click and take a listen.

Miss Andersson, a proverbial “one-woman band” who is based out of New Orleans in the US. combines the technical skills of a electronica crafter with the songwriting and performance sensibilities of a indie folk artist who would be at home in any trendy coffee shop on a Friday night. Her music has a DIY feel right down to her even hand crafting 1500 sleeves for her  EP, another example of the attitude shown in her musics production and performance.

be sure to check her out, her newest release, Hummingbird Go! is available at Amazon.com.

Photography Discussion

Gear-What I Use

lg1I am currently using the Canon EOS system of DSLRs. I started off as a nature photographer and back in those days (way before digital was even a thought) Canon had a bit sturdier gear for the money and had pretty well respected long glass. These days the race is a lot more even in my opinion.

A Canon 20D,and a Canon 40D now the Canon EOS 50D
A Canon Digital Rebel XT, now the Canon Digital Rebel XSi

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L
Canon EF-S 17mm – 85mm f/4.0-5.6 USM IS
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM

Those are the lenses I commonly use, I have various others as well but these are my main ones. The 50mm f/1.8 is a great lens for the money although i do find that its focus “searches” a bit in low light, however its optical results for a 80 dollar lens is flat out great.

I Don’t Belong here…
Avenged Sevenfold @ The Spokane Arena

Avenged Sevenfold made a stop in Spokane, Washington on February 9th on their recent headlining tour with Buckcherry, Papa Roach and opening act Saving Abel.
Avenged Sevenfold is touring in support of their current self titled album released in 2007 and are said to be planning to begin writing for a follow-up to be released possibly next year. Avenged Sevenfold’s music has expanded greatly over the years and their current album is no exception with songs with influences ranging from country to the metal classics of the NWOBHM. Their signature dual guitar harmonies are undoubtedly reminiscent of bands like Iron Maiden.
Early rumors state they will be part of this summer’s Gigantour with Megadeth, be sure to check them out.

If There Was A Single Day I Could Live…
Lamb of God @ The Knitting Factory

On December 9th Lamb of God played a headlining show during a break from their opening slot on Metallica’s current tour.
The band played a blistering set including all the tracks a fan would want to hear and also included two songs from their upcoming new studio album, “Wrath”, which will be released in the US on Feb 24th. The two new songs, entitled “Dead Seeds” and “Fake Messiah”, were true to form and served as great teases for the upcoming album.
Lamb of God Continues to be the true blooded metal band I remember when I first saw them on March 6th of 2002 in a tiny bar opening for Mushroomhead.

See the Black Birds Fly…
Amon Amarth @ The El Corazon

I caught Amon Amarth on their recent US headlining tour at their Seattle stop. They played a sold out show at the venerable Seattle venue the El Corazon. They were supported by Ensiferum, Belphegor, and The Absence.
Amon Amarth performed a wide selection from their current album as well as all the classics you would expect and even a few you would not. Their live shows are without doubt everything they are cracked up to be. although the venue was small and did not have proper room for their backdrop they put on a stunnly powerful performance. a great show.
